Once again some of Britain’s top celebrities have been using their creativity to design envelopes and raise money for the National Literacy Trust (NLT), as the Pitney Bowes sponsored Pushing the Envelope charity auction returns for a second year.

The campaign sees some of the nation’s favourite actors, writers, illustrators, musicians, sportspeople and personalities put pen to paper in aid of the NLT

Contributors so far include:

Renowned actor Ian McKellen

Greatest Olympian Steve Redgrave

Legendary singer Shirley Bassey

World renowned artist Damien Hirst

Best-selling author Tracy Chevalier

Best-selling children’s author Jacqueline Wilson

Shakespeare in Love actor Joseph Fiennes

Spectator cartoonist Michael Heath

Best-selling author Joanne Harris

Comedienne Jo Brand

Radio and TV presenter Terry Wogan

The envelopes will be auctioned on eBay.co.uk starting on 3rd October and running for 10 days. All funds raised will be donated to the National Literacy Trust.

David Denny, Vice President Human Resources, Pitney Bowes comments: “We are delighted to be supporting the National Literacy Trust for a second year with the Pushing the Envelope campaign. For Pitney Bowes, the link to the NLT is an obvious one. The charity is concerned with raising literacy standards across all age groups and improved literacy will always mean improved communication. Our own solutions help to make communication simpler, more integrated, more efficient and effective.

“The response so far has been fantastic and seems to have captured the imagination of some of the UK’s most well-known faces. We look forward to raising a substantial sum for the NLT.”
